We did have pretty fun calico bass fishing throughout the day, and we also caught a little sheephead and whitefish to finish up. Ryan checked in for The Pescador out Redondo Beach. Just wanted to call and give a wrap-up of yesterday and talk about this morning here. Yesterday we fished Santa Barbara on a full-day and had very good bottom fishing. Really tough conditions on the beach there, so we didn't spend a whole lot of time, ripping current and wind made it nearly impossible to anchor correctly. But we finished with LIMITS of Rockfish, nice round out of about 70 whitefish. We're at Catalina Island this morning, woke up here on an overnight, and we have 2 yellowtail on the boat to start the day, nice 15-18 lbs there. Thanks guys, cya on the boat.

Steve checked in for the Navegante from Redondo Beach. Just giving you a little update on what we're doing here today. We got lucky and got on some of that bluefin last night, kind of late in the night, early in the morning type of deal. We ended up putting 11 bluefin on the boat from about 40 to 100 pounds, for our small charter group of nine guys last night. We had some heartbreaks, breakoffs, and casualties, so it was good fishing while it lasted last night. We're just island fishing here now. We've got 3 big halibut on the boat and in search of more. So, but a fun night, really, really nice weather here today. We'll give you a wrap-up report and we'll shoot you some photos here in a little while. Steve has the current fish report for you below.
We've got a reverse 1.5-day trip, departing June 9th, leaving at 12 p.m., returning Tuesday the 10th around 7 p.m. I think there's plenty of reservations on that. We're going to make that a tuna trip. So give a landing a call, get a hold of Uli, and look us up online there. Bring the heavy gear on those trips here, guys. The heavy nighttime tuna stuff, your 100-pound braid, 130-pound braid, and your knife jigs or tuna bombs or whatever you guys like to fish at night for those things!

Ryan checked in from the Pescador out of Redondo Beach Sportfishing. We fished Catalina Island. We had a bit of a tough start here. Very, very little condition as far as current and wind were involved, but a very nice day on the water. We ended up fishing ok. We had near limits of rockfish, a handful of lingcod thrown in, and limits of reds. We then finished up in the shallows with a little bit of calico bass fishing. There was a really good sign of game fish, but without condition, it was very, very hard to get a bite. We are running the next few days here. Look forward to seeing you out here! Mike checked in for the Navegante out of Redondo Beach Sportfishing. We had a 2.5-Day. Nothing was easy for us. Whatever we caught, we had to really work for it. We traveled a lot, to three different islands to catch what we caught. Overall, we ended up with some nice quality seabass, halibut, and yellowtail. Seabass up to 45 pounds, yellowtail up to 40, I want to say, a bunch of cod, and whatnot for our light load. Looks like these islands are starting to pick up a little bit, or a lot, I should say. Seeing a very good sign, the water's warming up, and fish are a little bit more active now. Mike has the latest fish report for you below.

Ryan called in from the Pescador out of Redondo Beach Sportfishing. We fished Santa Barbara Island today on a 5-7 Full Day. We had really good opportunity at the island. Summertime is definitely starting to come to life here. We finished our day with one yellowtail, handful of calico bass, a nice little roundup on the whitefish, rockfish, and sheephead. Very very good opportunity on the yellowtail, we saw quite a bit of it, but we were only able to land the one. Really important to have 30 and 40 pound tackle with you, some sliding egg sinkers, and Aki twist hooks as well as some lead heads to go with that squid. Very very good opportunity.
